Cisco Systems Buy Company Cloud OpenDNS

Technology company Cisco Systems announced a new corporate action. They have bought the company cloud computing providers, OpenDNS, worth US $ 635 million.

This action was done to improve the security services in each product segment for the company that they provided. With the increasing number of Internet attacks, as well as increasingly sophisticated hacking capability.

OpenDNS is a Cloud-based company that uses predictive intelligence to block malware, botnets and phishing threats, which can not be handled only by antivirus or firewall. Previously, Cisco had a role as a minority investor in the OpenDNS and never support the company with an investment of US $ 35 million last year.

Cisco has been a business security company known for its robust firewall. They then expanded to the prevention and intrusion detection systems through the acquisition of Sourcefire worth US $ 2.7 billion in 2013.

Data research firm Markets and Markets, reveals that the cyber security market is expected to grow glonal US $ 170.21 billion in 2020, from only US $ 106.32 billion in 2015.

Before buying OpenDNS, Cisco has bought a lot of companies over the past few years. In 2014, they bought ThreatGRID, a malware analysis company. This year they also recently bought Neohapsis, a cyber security advisory firm.

OpenDNS is also known to have cooperated with other security companies such as Aruba Networks, Netgear and FireEye Inc.
